WITHOUT much hesitation, four lady doctors decided to join the facial and skin care spa scene with their innovative and unpretentious style.

Banking on their passion for beauty and healthy skin, doctors Arlene Barcenilla, Rachel Ann Lim, Geraldine Ann Togon and Donabel Fuentes decided to open Ammara Facial and Medical Clinic in June 2010.

Barcenilla, Lim, Togon and Fuentes are one team you could draw inspiration from. Their friendship is traced back in med school at the Davao Medical School Foundation. After graduation in 1998, they went into different medical fields and found themselves getting together and navigating through the facial/skin care spa world withstanding competition.

Their never ending love affair with health and beauty inspired them to share the passion and experience with Dabawenyos through Ammara Facial and Medical Spa. Ammara is derived from a Hebrew word that means “to be beautiful”.

“Two months lang ang preparation. We underwent a two-week training on non surgical skin care in Manila,” they said.

On surgical services, they tie up with a classmate, Dr. Dennis of the Bethany Medical and Dental Group. These services include Rhinoplasty (noselift), Liposculture, Tummy Tuck, facelift, Breastlift, Breast Augmentation, Otiplasty, Scar revision, Botox or Collagen Therapy.

Now in its second month, Ammara hopes to shape the facial and skin spa skin care that we know before.

“Before, it is only the women who would go to a spa. Ngaun may mga lalaki na din. The concept has changed and we get a considerable number of male clients already,” Dr. Togon said. “But it doesn’t mean though that they are gays.”

They all agreed that Dabawenyos are still the budget conscious clients so Ammara makes sure they don’t compromise quality with the rates.

“Hindi naman mahirap ma please ang Dabawenyos pero kailangan talaga affordable,” she said. “The reason why we come up with regular promos like a 20 percent discount during non-peak hours from 10 am to 3 p.m.,” Dr. Togon
